When leading a group, one of the most important aspects is to delegate efficiently.
Delegation is a tricky thing. A common pitfall is when delegation is very micro and/or the delegation goes to the wrong sets of people. I ran into the pitfall on my very first technical lead assignment, when I assigned tasks which were too small and too pre-digested.
A better way in handling delegation is from a responsibility viewpoint. Delegating responsibilities helps you to keep track of who can do what. It’s also good for developers, since they can take ownership of certain parts which improves motivation. Typically you’ll make someone responsible for certain use cases/technologies and/or screens.
This small change in viewpoint helped me a lot in the next projects.
